Popsugar, Huffington Post, Cosmopolitan and Buzzfeed Oh My!

We were so thrilled to be a part of this Little Mermaid inspired shoot! Here’s what Popsugar had to say along with our list of amazing vendors!!

Out Of The Sea And Into Our Dreams!

Many children dream of their future wedding, and most of our romantic notions about love come from childhood dreaming with a cast of fairy tale characters. In the spirit of that romantic nostalgia, we are excited to share this amazing fantasy photo shoot. In the collaboration between Your Cloud Parade, (a hip online wedding marketplace), and Traci Hines (singer/designer), a hipster mermaid faux-wedding is brought to life. The vision behind this shoot was to re-create the classic “tail” (pun fully intended) of the Little Mermaid, and transform Ariel (modeled by Traci Hines) and Prince Eric (modeled by Leo Camacho), into a modern hipster wedding couple!

The magical team included shoot designer Cloud Parade’s Lauren Coats, hair and makeup by 10.11 Makeup, delicious desserts by Sweet and Saucy Shop, and florist A Blooming Bud. To shop the “looks” and items from this shoot, check the links below.

In March a few friends of ours are going on a trek to Nepal to climb to the Base Camp of Mt Everest to raise funds and awareness for ‘The Elisha Foundation’. The struggle their team will face on this mountain poetically mirrors the struggle of a family caring for a person with a disability… except that their journey is not just for a few weeks, but for a lifetime. It’s a relentless struggle that often makes the whole family feel isolated and hopeless. This is where The Elisha Foundation (TEF) comes in. Through its Respite, Retreat & Reach programs, TEF provides encouragement, community and rest to those burdened with the care of a disabled person. They also help educate and equip people around the world (both families and volunteers) to provide proper care and help to break down barriers that are faced by those with disabilities and their families. We strongly believe in this cause. To view more information about this trek, please visit www.Trek4TEF.com . When I first heard about this trip I was intrigued and was very interested in going. I mostly wanted to go at first because of my love for the outdoors and how great it would be to climb part of the world’s largest mountain, knowing I’d never attempt the peak this would be the closest I’d ever get the highest place on earth. This sounded really fun and awesome and the more I learned about the trip the more it became something my heart was attaching to, but not because of the cool mountain climbing aspect but the rad dudes and the reason this whole trip came to be. I have included a video below that explains the purpose of this trip. Just a few weeks ago we gave birth to our 3rd child, and as absolutely wonderful this is for our family it has made making the trip myself out of the question. Having three little ones under 4 yo is quite the the job for my wife and our family. So I couldn’t leave the idea of participating alone. Now here’s where you can help us still participate. The most important need for this trip and the guys going on it is donations. It costs quite a bit of money to get 20 dudes to Nepal to climb the world’s tallest mountain and raising awareness for the trip and ‘The Elisha Foundation’ is really what is needed most and where we can still help. So we have decided to donate a portrait session at a discounted rate so that you can help along with us raise awareness for taking care of people with disabilities not just in our country but around the world. Follow the link below and scroll down to the giving rewards section to find out how to donate and pick up our portrait session. There are also a few other ways to donate if this speaks to you…check out the Print gallery, there are some really fantastic photographs in there, or even a small donation and you can get a postcard/photo from the trip.

I can’t believe how fast the time goes by. Somedays it feels like we just got married and yet this year brought about so many rad milestones. We finished our 5th season as wedding photographers, celebrated our 5 year anniversary and had our second precious baby, Riley Jack. 2011 was a hard year for some of our closest friends and we are looking forward with anticipation to a beautiful new year. The 2012 clients are rolling in and we are so excited to build new friendships and see the dreams of our clients realized on their wedding days. Please enjoy some of our favorite images from 2011and Happy New Year!

Long, long ago we shot our first wedding. It was a nerve wracking day and we were excited and terrified. I’m not sure how often people think about it but there is quite a bit of weight resting on the wedding photographers. If we screw up people’s memories can be ruined forever. (NOW THAT’S HEAVY!) Our first wedding clients were Tarahca and Greg. They are long time family friends who are actually really more like family to us. We were so honored that they entrusted us newbies with such a giant task. Tarahca’s mom still says to this day that it was the best wedding we’ve ever shot (which is a huge compliment). Well, here’s our chance to strike gold again for the Gibson family! Last weekend Dale called us while on a flight from Canada to ask if we could be in on the plan to surprise Taya with the BIG question! We were so excited and, of course, said yes! Matt had a lot of fun being a creeper in the bushes and we are SO excited for their wedding this summer!!! Taya is such a babe, I can’t wait to see her as a bride!! WOOHOO!!

Tarahca and Greg are our very first Mathieu Photography clients. We shot their wedding back in January of 2007 and it has been so cool to see them grow together as husband and wife. We have known them for a long time and had the opportunity to snap some rad underwater shots of them last week when our families hung out in Hawaii :) We are so blessed by the clients we have had and it is awesome to see our clients celebrate years and years together. We love you guys!
ALOHA!!
